The following was shared to us by Columbus Public Health.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Mike Tedrick
Health and Sanitation Chair

"Ohio and surrounding states are seeing an increase in hepatitis A infections. Hepatitis A is a virus found in stool that causes a serious infection of the liver. It can be spread through close person to person contact and through food. You and other members of the Greater Ohio Showmen's Association (GOSA) may be contacted with questions regarding this outbreak, which is why I’ve attached a brief update (below) that can be referenced. If possible, please share the attached document with your board members, trustees, and GOSA members.

Here is additional information about hepatitis A:

  • Columbus Public Health recommends people most at risk get vaccinated.
  • Ways to prevent Hepatitis A infections from occurring include washing hands for 20 seconds with warm soapy water and disinfecting surfaces often.
  • For more information call 614-645-1474 (option 3) or visit www.columbus.gov/hepatitis"
