Kissel Bros Shows was founded by the late Russell “Sonny” Kissel from Cincinnati, Ohio. His history in the amusement industry can be traced back thru generations to the Kissel Amusement Park that operated from the mid 1940’s to the mid 1960’s. Upon the close of the park, Russell “Sonny” Kissel, along with his family, eventually took the equipment on the road and serviced county fairs, festivals and events throughout Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
As the company grew, so did his involvement in organizations such as the Greater Ohio Showmen’s Association where he served on the Ohio Amusement Ride Safety Advisory Board. He was well known, loved and respected by his many family, friends and fellow showmen until his passing on October 26, 1995. The Kissel Bros Shows remain in operation today and since that time, generations of his family members have continued to expand out in the amusement industry and can currently be found operating on the midways today.
The Russell “Sonny” Kissel Scholarship Fund was founded in his honor by his family as a way to continue to aide amusement industry youth to pursue their dreams.
