Ohio State Fair – 2024 Visit

GOSA’s Eric German paid a visit to the State Fair on Thursday, July 25th. The day started out with the Ohio Ride Safety Advisory Board quarterly meeting. GOSA is represented on the advisory board by Nick Blois Jr. of McGinnis Amusements and Kyle Kissel of Kissel Amusements. Past GOSA board president Doug Guinsler serves on the board on behalf of the Ohio Fair Managers Association.

Talley Amusements set-up 67 rides along with games and concessions. Ongoing construction impacted the midway set-up but didn’t appear to impede foot traffic. Fair officials and independent concessionaires shared that opening day, Wednesday, July 24, was unusually slow. All felt business would pick up as long as the weather cooperated.

GOSA members were spotted along the independent food midway.

  • Suzannah Cushman, new owner of Prowant Specialty Company, fielded several food trailers.
  • Chad Kolar was running several food trailers too and was spotted with Nick Blois Jr. and Kyle Kissel.
  • Jeff Otterbacher’s Dippin Dots trailers were there under the skillful management of Piotr and Wiktoria.
  • DiRusso’s Sausage was spotted serving hungry guests early in the day.
